Local, Sustainable, Organic

There are a lot of buzz words out there today in the food industry:

LOCAL, shopping from farmers markets and local purveyors withinEnglish: regional & fair, certified label for ... 50 miles of your home which keeps jobs local and keeps money local;

SUSTAINABLE, buying only from companies that are true stewards of the land or as Sustainable Table puts it: Sustainable agriculture is a way of raising food that is healthy for consumers and animals, does not harm the environment, is humane for workers, respects animals, provides a fair wage to the farmer, and supports and enhances rural communities;

ORGANIC, foods that are produced without synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers, do not contain genetically modified organisms, and are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives.

We at Passport Dinners strive for ORGANIC mainly because most of our awesome ingredients are not local and are hard to qualify as sustainable, but are definitely organic.
